Gospel of Our Lord According to Luke
Luke Chapter 19 Verses 41 through 44
When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people
putting their offerings into the treasury
and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins.
He said, “I tell you truly,
this poor widow put in more than all the rest;
for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth,
but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”
but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.
Do you offer only what you have left over, or do you offer more than that? How much of your time, talent, and treasure do you sacrifice for the works of God? Or is only your surplus good enough for the Lord?
Do you desire to keep what you have for yourself, even knowing that nothing really belongs to you?
