The Angelus is a set of prayers that unite us with Mary during The Annunciation. The prayers recall the archangel Gabriel's Annunciation of Jesus's conception to Mary as given to us in the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke. It is a prayer prayed the world over by religious and lay people and is often included at the end of both morning and night prayers and is often said at noon as well. It is common enough that many churches pray it communally. There is no specific sacramental that is used while praying the Angelus. Knights are encouraged to pray The Angelus at the end of their morning prayers, at noon, and in the evening at the end of their evening prayers.
How to Pray the Angelus
Begin with the Sign of the Cross
All: In the Name of the Father and The Son and The Holy Spirit
Leader: The Angel of the Lord Declaired Unto Mary
All: And she conceived of the Holy Spirit
Pray The Hail Mary
Leader: Behold the handmaid of the Lord
All: Be it done unto me according to thy word.
Pray The Hail Mary
Leader: And the Word was made Flesh.
All: And dwelt among us.
Pray The Hail Mary
Leader: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
All: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us Pray.
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace unto our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen
